TollTally — TollGuru GPS-to-toll billing product — has always aimed to streamline toll billing for thousands of our customers — trucking fleets, car rentals, and fleet operators. The need was evident: instead of waiting for 4–6 weeks for official toll bills, businesses could use TollTally for real-time estimates, significantly boosting efficiency.
However, there was a catch. For recent trips, the toll estimations were highly accurate. But when it came to older trips (even those from a year ago), the reliability dipped. This was due to changing toll rates, evolving road configurations, and lack of dated map layers for accurate GPS map-matching.
Our Solution
Enter AI. With our latest update, TollTally leverages cutting-edge AI algorithms. This enables TollTally to match older GPS tracks with current map layers, factoring in all past changes in road and toll configurations.
The Process Simplified
GPS coordinates are taken and precisely matched to the road network, which forms a route. Using the timestamps from each GPS entry, TollTally can then deduce the exact time each toll was incurred.
